The following is a brief summary of the proceedings of trials, broken down into the categories of "Plot" and "Players", with the former detailing the progression of a trial and the latter concerning the key players who will be secretly assigned prior to the trial.
Plot:
Opening Moves-- The basic facts of the murder are established and Monokuma reiterates the information presented in his case file.
Free Debate-- The greater part of any given trial, during this time all participants in the trial discuss their findings, assert theories, and launch accusations.
Climax-- Final arguments are made and a vote for allocating blame for the murder takes place.
Players:
Blackened-- The guilty party in the trial, will attempt to undermine all the others through misdirection.
Red Herring-- A framed individual or likely culprit, determined by the decisions of the Blacked during the murder itself.
Key Witness(es)-- One or more individuals who have vital information only they are aware of.
