Following a murder, the Captain, that is I, Monokuma, will declare the start of a period of Deadly Life. This period starts as soon as a body has been found and lasts until the conclusion of the related trial. During Deadly Life, the following Regulations are active:
Upon the discovery of a body, the murder investigation will begin. Each survivor will be privy to a Monokuma file, detailing the circumstances of the death-- this will serve as the original post in a new thread that will be dedicated to that specific investigation. In this thread the survivors will search for clues and discuss what they find with their peers. During this time Captain Monokuma will be available to answer any questions regarding the murder and will inform the survivors of what is discovered as a result of their investigatory efforts. The typical Investigation will last 3 OOC days, ending at 11:59PM CST on the third day, however Monokuma reserves the right to cut or extend as he sees fit. Investigation threads will become locked at this time, but can still be viewed. Investigation threads are specifically reserved for just that; investigating. Players who chronically veer off topic will be temporarily blocked from posting in the Investigation thread.
Immediately after an Investigation concludes, the Class Trial will begin. Unlike Investigations, Class Trials will not be directed by Monokuma, who will only answer questions intended specifically for him. Typical Class Trials will last 24 hours, during which the survivors are free to discuss what they've learned about the murder, casting and deflecting blame as they see fit. At the end of the 24 hours a vote will take place in the form of a poll in the relevant thread. The poll will remain open for 12 hours or until all trial participants have voted. Anyone who fails to vote within the time period given will automatically abstain their vote. If the majority votes for the guilty party, that guilty party will be executed. If, however, the majority guesses wrong, everyone but the guilty party will be punished.
Executed players will be barred from participation in Investigations or Trials, but may still view their proceedings and continue, if they desire, to involve themselves with Daily Life events. If one of these ghosts attempts to violate the peaceful lives of their living peers, however, Captain Monokuma will eagerly exorcise them.
